Masters Boxing International - 
United Kingdom - Golden Gloves 

Dates

Friday 25th September – Saturday 26th September - 2026

International Competitors

  • All competitors travelling from overseas must hold valid travel insurance that includes cover for contact sports/boxing.
    As this event is held in the United Kingdom, overseas visitors are not covered under the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) for sporting injuries.

  • Competitors are responsible for ensuring their policy includes:

  • Medical treatment for injuries sustained during boxing

  • Emergency transport

  • Hospital care

  • Repatriation if required

  • Please check your local country’s reciprocal healthcare agreements with the UK, if any, as these do not usually include coverage for combat sports injuries.

 

Age Requirements

  • Age is determined as at Thursday 25th September 2026

  • Minimum age for competition is 30 years

 

Age Divisions

  • 30-40, 41-50, 51- 55, 56-60, 61-70

  • Age is determined as at Thursday 25th September 2026. Minimum age is 30 years.

  • Fighters may be matched across age divisions provided there is no more than 10 years separating the fighters. 

  • Over 70 ? We are sorry but there are no divisions for over 70’s in MBI competitions

 

Event Divisions (4 limit)

  • Men and Women: There’s a limit of 4 fighters allowed per division.

 

Tournament Fight Format

  • All divisions will fight over 3 x 2  minute rounds

Weight Divisions:

  • ​​Bantamweight  (50.1kg – 57.5 kg) Female Only

  • Lightweight (57.51kg – 65.0 kg)

  • Welterweight (65.1kg – 72.5 kg)

  • Middleweight (72.51kg – 80.0 kg)

  • Cruiser Weight (80.1kg – 87.5)

  • Heavy Weight (87.51 kg – 95 kg)

  • Super heavy Weight (95.1kg –102.5kg)

  • Open Weight (102.5+)

 

Tournament Briefing

Thursday 24th September 2026

Competitors Meet & Greet – 6:00pm (Venue TBA)

A relaxed social gathering for all athletes and trainers to meet each other, connect with competitors from other countries, and settle in before the tournament begins.

This informal session includes:

  • Social meet & greet with fellow competitors

  • Q&A discussion about the event, schedule, and rules

  • Practice scales available for anyone wanting to check weight

  • Collection of event merchandise

A great chance to meet your peers, ask questions, and enjoy the atmosphere before Day One.
Attendance is recommended, but not compulsory.

Compulsory Weigh-In

Friday 25th September 2026 – All registered boxers

7am – 9am. There will be a single compulsory weigh-in on the morning of the first day of the competition for all boxers, no exceptions. (Dehydration and resultant boxer collapse is one of the most dangerous aspects of the sport. A single weigh-in aims to eliminate this factor. Nominate your fighting weight from the start.)

​​Doors open for spectators 30 minutes before the session start.

Tickets available at the door and at event bright

 

Boxers must be available all 2 days. Any requests to fight on a certain day/session or corner colour requests will not be considered.

Fees

Each competitor is required to pay a registration fee of 150 British Pound Open Class

Each competitor is required to pay a registration fee of 120 British Pound Cadet and Combat Class

Additional Information

MBI Membership Requirement
All boxers must be registered with Masters Boxing International (MBI). You will require an MBI membership number to complete your online entry into the event.

Titles & Awards​

 

🏆 Open Class
Winners in each division will be awarded the prestigious UK Golden Gloves Title and will receive the GUK Golden Gloves Perpetual Belt.

🥇 Combat & Cadet Class
Winners will receive the Golden Gloves Perpetual Medal.

🥈 Runners-Up (all Combat & Cadet divisions)
Will receive a silver medal.

Competition Category

  • All competitors will participate as Masters Boxers.

 

Equipment Requirements

  • All boxers will wear 16oz MBI-approved gloves. females 50kg - 57.5 kg  and 57.5 - 65 wear 12 oz if both fighters and trainers agree

  • Gloves and headgear will be provided, but you may use your own open-face headgear if it is approved by the Marshall.

Competition Attire & Equipment Requirements

Singlets & Colours
Competitors may wear red or blue singlets, or their official country colours.
If both athletes are from the same country, or if their colours clash, the Red Corner has priority.
The Blue Corner must change into a blue singlet to ensure clear visual distinction for officials and judges.

Cup Protector / Groin Guard
Only cricket-box style or single-protection cup protectors are permitted.
Professional or sparring-style groin guards (including those with abdominal padding or wrap-around support) are not allowed.
No abdominal support protectors are permitted under any circumstances.

Mouthguard
A properly fitted mouthguard is mandatory.

 

Boxing Shorts
Boxing shorts must have a clear, visible waistband.
Black shorts and black singlets are allowed; however, if both athletes are wearing black singlets, the Red Corner retains preference, and the Blue Corner must change to blue.

 

Tournament Draw & Weigh-In

  • Friday 25 September – All Registered Boxers

  • 7:00am – 9:00am
    A single compulsory weigh-in will take place on the morning of Day 1 for all competitors — no exceptions.
    (Dehydration and weight-cutting are major safety risks. A single weigh-in helps prevent dangerous practices. Fighters must nominate their weight division in advance.)

  • Tournament Draw Posted: Approximately 11:00am

  • Bouts Commence: 6:00pm

 

Medical & Match Clearance

  • A ringside Doctor will be available one hour before the start of each session. All boxers must be cleared by the doctor before being permitted to compete.

  • Medical clearance (Fitness to Box) and Serology results – both must be current within 12 months of Friday 25th September 2026

 

Former Professional Boxers

  • Former professionals may not compete in the UK Golden Gloves if they have fought professionally within the last 12 months.

Trainers

 

Fighters Without Trainers

  • Trainer Availability:
    If a fighter does not have a personal trainer at any event, we provide well-qualified trainers who can step in as your trainer.

  • Important Requirement:
    Fighters without trainers must attend the tournament briefing. At this briefing, you will be introduced to your assigned trainer.

  • Trainer Qualifications:

  • All our trainers are highly qualified and experienced. Fighters at previous events have consistently reported positive experiences with their assigned trainers.

Judging & Sanctioning

  • All bouts are judged using a professional and fair scoring system based on international Masters Boxing protocols.

  • All results and decisions are final. No Appeals

  • The tournament is organised and presented by Masters Boxing International in conjunction with Masters Boxing United Kingdom Inc, and is sanctioned by MBI.​
